This is a short but well-planned safari that is not too rushed and introduces you to the beasts of nature. It takes you to Kenya’s most popular game reserve renowned for the Wildebeest Migration. You will later proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park which is one of the world’s greatest ornithological site. And finally it takes you to the slopes of Mt Kenya across the equator to Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary, the only park with a Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Kenya.
Have an early breakfast and leave Nairobi and head to Amboseli National Park, driving through the picturesque southern part of Kenya. Arrive on time for lunch at Kibo Safari Camp and proceed to an evening game drive in the park. Amboseli National Park is situated against the backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain (Mount Kilimanjaro). It’s famous for being one of the few places you can get close to free-roaming wild animals such as the big cats, herds of elephants, zebras, gazelles and buffaloes. Return to Kibo Safari Camp for dinner and overnight.
Spend the whole day in the park enjoying an early morning and late afternoon game drive in the park. You will have a chance to get a spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro during early morning hours or during sunset when the sky is clear. Arid as it looks the park has supported a diversity of wildlife together with the Masai who grazed their animals across the park thanks to the waters that run off Mount Kilimanjaro. Return to Kibo Safari Camp or similar after the game drive for dinner and overnight in your camp on a full board basis.
Have an early breakfast and leave Amboseli National Park headed to Mt Kenya National Park, arrive on time for lunch at Serena Mountain Lodge. You may opt to go on a game drive or have a guided walk through the forest or go trout fishing in the clear mountain streams. Alternatively you may opt to spot wildlife from the balcony of your room as they come to the salt lick. Relax in the lodge or go for a late afternoon game drive in the park where you will enjoy seeing elands, bushbucks, white tailed mongoose, tree hyrax, herds of elephants and endangered species such as bongo, rhino and giant forest hog. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Depart from Mt Kenya after breakfast and head to Samburu National Reserve driving through the rugged wildreness. Arrive on time for lunch at Samburu Sopa Lodge and relax getting ready for your first afternoon game drive. Samburu National Reserve offers distinctive vistas of rugged hills and undulating hills. The mix of grassland and wood with a swamp and a riverine forest makes the reserve home to a variety of animal and birdlife. Game viewing in the reserve is excellent due to its visibility. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
You will have a full day in Samburu Game Reserve with a 0630hrs game drive returning to the camp for breakfast. Later leave your lodge with packed lunch to explore both Samburu and Buffalo Springs Reserves. You will have a chance to spot the rare Oryx, Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated giraffe, Somali Ostrich, crocodiles, hippos, herds of elephants, buffalos, lions, hyena, cheetahs and if you lucky enough the elusive leopard. You may also opt to spend the entire day exploring the reserve with packed picnic breakfast and lunch. A visit to a cultural village may be organized if you are interested. Return to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.
Enjoy an early morning game drive followed by breakfast. Check out and drive into Laikipia plains into Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy. On arrival, you will check in at your camp and have lunch. After time at leisure, you will have an evening game drive until sunset from 1600hrs. During your game drives, you will also visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
After breakfast, you will depart at 0800hrs for Lake Nakuru National Park in the great Rift Valley, renowned for its spectacular flamingo population and as one of the world greatest ornithological. Have at stopover at the stunning Thompson Falls for photos and later at Subukia view point. You will arrive in Lake Nakuru National park in time for some time at leisure before lunch at your overnight lodge. Later, you will have game drive in the park from 1600hrs until sunset. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Depart from your lodge after an early breakfast and drive through the scenic Rift Valley to Maasai Mara. You will have breathtaking views of hills, grasslands, extinct volcanoes and wheat plantations. Arrive on world’s famous game reserve on time for lunch at Mara Sopa Lodge and relax getting ready for a late afternoon game drive. Your game drive will definitely make you understand why Maasai Mara is the most famous national reserve in the world. You will be surprised by the concentration of wildlife in this reserve. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Spend the entire day exploring this world famous game reserve. This reserve is not only the most popular game reserve in the country, it is probably why people visit Kenya. The reserve is set on a classic African savannah and the huge density of wildlife is astounding. Zebras, wildebeest and
gazelles graze in large herds and as a matter of fact where prey is in plenty so are the predators.
The reserve covers an area of approximately 1510 sq km of open grassland waters by the Mara River and Talek which is a tributary of the former. Here it is very common to see the big cats hunting; they are also in their numbers. The leopard is the hardest to spot of the famous Big Five,
but in Mara it not as hard to see it relaxing on a tree. Hippos, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes also exist in large numbers. Return to the lodge for overnight.
Rise up early for your last morning game drive before returning to your lodge for breakfast.
Later leave this great game reserve and drive back to Nairobi with picnic lunch en-route. Arrive in Nairobi at around 1600hrs. Should there be time before your home flight you might be interested in city tour. If not you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to catch your flight bringing to an end what we hope is a safari of your lifetime.
